Please read these terms carefully before using our tutoring services

1. Agreement to Terms

By engaging Affordable Math Tutors for tutoring services, you ("Client," "Parent," or "Guardian") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Affordable Math Tutors ("we," "us," or "our"). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Services Provided

Affordable Math Tutors provides personalized mathematics tutoring services including, but not limited to:

  • One-on-one virtual tutoring sessions
  • Instruction in various math subjects from elementary to calculus
  • Test preparation assistance (SAT, ACT, and other standardized tests)
  • Homework help and academic support
  • Progress tracking and regular feedback

Our services are supplemental to formal education and are not a replacement for school instruction. We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes or grade improvements.

3. Registration and Eligibility

  • Parents or legal guardians must register students for tutoring services
  • Accurate contact and billing information must be provided
  • Students must be willing and able to participate in tutoring sessions
  • You must notify us of any learning disabilities, special needs, or relevant medical conditions

4. Payment Terms

Pricing

  • First two sessions: $40 per hour (introductory rate)
  • Ongoing sessions: $50 per hour
  • Rates are subject to change with 30 days' notice
  • Specialized test prep services may have different pricing

Payment Methods

  • Payment is due at the time of service or as agreed upon
  • We accept credit cards, debit cards, and other approved payment methods
  • Late payments may result in suspension of services
  • A $25 fee may be charged for returned payments

5. Scheduling and Cancellation Policy

Important: Please review our cancellation policy carefully to avoid charges.

Cancellations by Client

  • 24+ hours notice: Full refund or reschedule at no charge
  • Less than 24 hours: 50% of session fee charged
  • No-show: Full session fee charged
  • Emergency situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Cancellations by Tutor

  • We will provide as much notice as possible for cancellations
  • Sessions will be rescheduled at no additional cost
  • No charges will be applied for tutor-initiated cancellations

6. Student Conduct and Expectations

Students are expected to:

  • Attend sessions on time and prepared with necessary materials
  • Treat tutors with respect and courtesy
  • Complete assigned homework and practice problems
  • Communicate any difficulties or concerns promptly
  • Maintain appropriate behavior during online sessions

We reserve the right to discontinue services if a student exhibits disruptive, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior.

7. Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

  • Provide a quiet, distraction-free environment for virtual sessions
  • Ensure reliable internet connection and appropriate technology
  • Communicate learning goals and any concerns promptly
  • Review progress reports and maintain communication with tutors
  • Supervise younger students during online sessions as appropriate
  • Provide accurate and complete information about the student's academic needs

8. Virtual Tutoring Guidelines

Technical Requirements

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Computer, tablet, or device with camera and microphone
  • Compatible video conferencing software
  • Quiet space free from distractions

Session Recording

Sessions may be recorded for quality assurance and educational purposes only with prior written consent. Recordings will not be shared with third parties and will be deleted after a reasonable period.

9. Intellectual Property

  • All teaching materials, worksheets, and resources provided remain our property
  • Materials may be used solely for the student's personal educational purposes
  • Reproduction, distribution, or commercial use is prohibited
  • Any original work created by the student during sessions belongs to the student

10. Limitation of Liability

Important Legal Information:

  • We provide educational support but do not guarantee specific academic outcomes
  • We are not responsible for grades, test scores, or admission decisions
  • Our liability is limited to the amount paid for services
  • We are not liable for technical issues beyond our control
  • We maintain appropriate liability insurance

11. Confidentiality

All student information, academic records, and session details are kept strictly confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws including FERPA. Information will not be shared without written consent except as required by law.

12. Termination of Services

By Client

You may discontinue services at any time with written notice. Prepaid sessions will be refunded on a prorated basis, minus any applicable cancellation fees.

By Affordable Math Tutors

We reserve the right to terminate services for: non-payment, violation of these terms, inappropriate conduct, or if we determine we cannot adequately meet the student's needs.

13. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

  • If you are not satisfied within the first 30 days, request a full refund
  • Must be requested in writing within 30 days of first session
  • Applies to regularly scheduled sessions (not single trial sessions)
  • Limited to first-time clients only

14. Dispute Resolution

In the event of any dispute:

  • Contact us first to attempt to resolve the issue informally
  • If unable to resolve, disputes will be handled through binding arbitration
  • Arbitration will be conducted in accordance with Washington State law
  • Each party will bear their own costs

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to our website or notification via email. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
